Job Purpose:

  • To provide a hospital wide service regarding the decontamination, preparation, packing, and sterilization of all equipment’s.
  • To act in accordance with Al Salam Hospital department policies and procedures ensuring quality practice and service.
  • To maintain the universal C.S.S.D. practices and recommendations through infection control policy observing standard precautions preventing risk of infection.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carries out assigned tasks conscientiously, efficiently and safety according to CSSD Al Salam Hospital Policy.
  • Responsible for decontamination, sorting, checking, packing, sterilizing, storage of equipment and instruments ready for distribution for units.
  • Perform routine safety checks and rests on checks and tests on sterilizer and/or unit equipment while recording data correctly and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Reports defects, losses, breakages, shortages, of supplies and any untoward incidents to the Nursing Director as per policy.
  • Completes the incident reporting form (OVR) as appropriate.
  • Reports any malfunctioning of machines to the Biochemical Engineer.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Always follows agreed hospital policies and procedures .
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment in all areas.
  • Assists in the supervision, training and development of new employees, trainee nurses when required.
  • Carries out recommendation made by Al Salam Hospital Infection Control coordinators or by review surveyors.
  • Participates in quality improvement audits as requested by Nursing Administration / Quality Improvement Manager.
  • Carries out other duties or tasks appropriate to the area but not specified in the job description when assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Working knowledge and appropriate action to be taken in relation to hospital emergency codes, Fire and safety, Hazmat, Infection prevention and control policy.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ experience in Central Sterile Supply Department in a hospital.
  • Operating room experience desirable.
  • Ability to work within a team.

Job Purpose:

  •  The Head Nurse is designated as being the Administrative Manager/Quality facilitator of a designated unit/clinic.
  • The Head Nurse is responsible and accountable for the 24 hour management of his/her assigned nursing unit, clinic or ward.
  • Operationally responsible for Quality Patient Care and ensuring compliance with JCI Standards in a transcultural environment.
  • Maintains effective daily communication with Nursing, Medical and Support Services as required.
  • Problem solves and makes nursing decisions based on own managerial and clinical skills for assigned area.
  • Ensures a safe work environment in conformance with Health and Safety Regulations and participates in Environment of Care Safety Rounds.
  • Has a staffing contingency plan for emergency or disaster situations.
  • Acts up as Nursing Supervisor when required following comprehensive orientation.

Duties and Responsibilities: (Management):

  •  Ensures the highest standard of clinical care is maintained, utilizing a systematic approach to nursing.
  • Reviews and updates nursing policies, practices, procedures and recommends improvements.
  • Coordinates probationary period for new hire staff by allocating appropriately skilled and knowledgeable preceptors, evaluating new staff fortnightly and implementing Developmental Plans when necessary
  • Actively manages staff performance and completes objective staff Performance Appraisals both probationary and annual.
  • Actively implements Quality Assessment and Improvement Activities within the guidelines and standards of the Nursing Department.
  • Facilitates the integration of standards of patients care specific to the unit and ensures the dignity and rights of patients are respected.
  • Maintains and updates required unit/clinic documentation/records in accordance with Government/Hospital and Quality Department requirements.
  • Responsible for ordering new equipment and ensures effective utilization, maintenance, inventory and storage of equipment.
  • Initiates and maintains risk management assessment and performed improvement activities by unit level.
  • Develop and submits unit goals and establish unit/group norms based on input from the staff and identified needs.
  • Conducts regular monthly ward meetings which include quality improvement and educational activities.
  • Participates in short and long range planning for and development of the patient care unit.
  • Prepare monthly and semi-annual accountability reports and submits to the Supervisor.
  • Maintains updated staff personal information and licensure.
  • Oversees and coordinates the patient’s plan of care and monitors multidisciplinary patient care activities to assure quality in patient care.
  • Assure nursing care activities are delegated appropriately according to the level of staff education, skills and abilities in accordance to the patient needs and acuity.

 Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

  •  Graduate from accredited School of Nursing and Licensure / Registration as registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor Degree / Diploma in Nursing and Board passer.
  • Training Programs and Seminars should be knowledgeable for Medical Programs.
  • Training Certificates and Seminars should be accredited by Hospital or Association.
  • BLS/ACLS, MOH and Saudi Council current, valid and up-dated.
  • Eight (8) years working experience in a hospital environment.
  • Excellent English and good in Arabic.
  • Neat, organized and systematic.

Job Purpose:

 Provides quality care for all ASH employees and carries out orders complying with the policy and procedure of hospital in coordination with the Infection Control Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Collaborate with physician in meeting the health care need of the employee who report seeking immediate care and consultation.
  • Perform communicable disease screening and immunization for all new hire employees.
  • Provide initial and flow up care for all employees exposed to blood and infectious fluid according to the established protocols and algorithms.
  • Performs data entry into the computer system for immunization given to employees in the health clinic as well as serology reports.
  • Arranges for prompt diagnosis and management job-related illness and provide appropriate post exposure prophylaxis after job related exposures.
  • Recommend policies and procedures for ASH Employee Health Program.
  • Notify the Infection Control Nurse of work related infection and exposure that require investigation by the Infection Control Unit.
  • Second case of conjunctivitis within 3 weeks.
  • Second case of purulent pharyngitis within 3 weeks.
  • Second case of viral gastroenteritis.
  • Report communicable disease using Notification of communicable disease form and forward to the infection control. Report monthly census and blood and body fluid exposure to the infection control unit and QI.
  • Report monthly Blood and body fluid exposures to MOH.
  • Report medical employee census, serology level and their Hepatitis-B antibody level to MOH every 6 month.
  • Report annually Needle Stick rate and BBFE rate to Infection Control.
  • Adheres to ASH employee health program policies and procedures which sometimes warrant exclusion of personnel from work or patient contact.
  • Vaccinate all ASH employees at risk of contracting disease that are vaccine preventable disease (if they are risk).
  • Provides health teaching and education through:
  • Assessment of patient’s learning needs.
  • Using demonstration technique and educational materials such as brochures or pamphlets and other needed materials.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required
  • Graduate of a recognized, accredited school of Nursing with current registration and license to work in Saudi Arabia.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience as a nurse.
  • With good command in English with a thorough knowledge, skill and nursing techniques.
